The Elements of Harmony are only able to be wielded by a select few ponies, with little information on them through the pages of literature. 

 In a desperate, insane desire to search for the biological process that distinguishes a normal pony from one with the proper qualities, Twilight Sparkle resorts to restraining, analyzing, and destroying the holders of those qualities for her research.  

All for - according to Twilight - a purpose of "preserving the future".  

But how far will her desire to research and preserve Harmony go, and what, precisely, does Twilight plan to achieve as her ultimate goal?   For it is a goal that she strives to achieve - whatever the cost.

When Twilight Sparkle slipped beneath the covers last night everything had been fine. She had friends whom she loved, a teacher she adored, and a bright future ahead of her. But when she woke up, her blankets and quilts had been replaced by hospital gowns and padded restraints. Everything is wrong and nothing makes sense; even her friends have changed. The doctors, they keep telling her she is sick, that none of it was real and it was all in her head. But they’re lying. She remembers a life far beyond the hospital walls. She couldn't have made it all up on her own. They must be lying… right?
